Baby Asthma

Asthma (also called reactive airway disease) is a common problem in infants and children. The most common symptoms include coughing, wheezing and difficulty breathing, which is caused by inflammation and tightness in the breathing tubes of the lungs.[1]

Treatment

If your baby has asthma, you'll want to work with his doctor to develop a strategy for preventing and dealing with asthma attacks. First figure out what triggers the attacks and then do your best to help your child avoid those triggers. Some children have attacks only when they have a cold, for example, while others have attacks after coming into contact with an allergen or an irritant like cigarette smoke.[2]
